John Carpenter’s Vampires (1998)

Role: slayer David Deyo
Starring: James Woods, Daniel Baldwin, Sheryl Lee, Thomas Ian Griffith, Tim Guinee, and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

A vengeful vampire slayer must retrieve an ancient Catholic relic that, should it be acquired by vampires, will allow them to endure sunlight.

Notes: [SPOILER ALERT (sort of?)] I didn’t realize that Cary’s appearance here was more of a cameo than a full role. I saw this the day it premeired… and guess what? He died *ten minutes* into it! *sigh* It’s like Drew Barrymore in “Scream” – sure hope you weren’t looking forward to watching her the whole time!

As for the rest of the movie, it was pretty good for a horror flick, though it did get too much at times. Thomas Ian Griffith was decent, but he got annoying hissing “Jaaaaaack!” every five minutes. I’m sort of glad Cary didn’t stay with the rest of the movie. Good move on his part.
