The Phantom (1996)
The Phantom, descendent of a line of African superheroes, travels to New York City to thwart a wealthy criminal genius from obtaining three magic skulls which would give him the secret to ultimate power.
Notes: You know you’re cool when you appear on the screen in the fashion that Cary does here. We see the camera zoomed in on one black leather gloved hand, then pan over slowly to reveal his face.
Cary’s appearance at the end revived this otherwise predictable film. Especially with Billy Zane, who played the Phantom. (He needs a lot more acting classes!) Amazingly, Catherine Zeta Jones does a terrible job as well, but she’s normally better. Cary’s role wasn’t too big, but he was an important character, and the swordfight at the end between him and the Phantom was pretty fun.
